“My Neighborhood, Your Neighborhood” Book Launch This Weekend!

Westchester Author & Community Nutritionist Deborah Johnson Launches 2nd Book

By Kelly Fitzpatrick and Deborah Johnson October 15, 2025

Pelham, NY – On October 18, 2025, White Plains Author and Community nutritionist Deborah Johnson will host the launch of her new children’s book, “My Neighborhood, Your Neighborhood,” at The Manor Club in Pelham NY. The event will feature guest speakers from the fields of social work, food access, and community engagement, offering families an inspiring evening that blends literacy, wellness, and local action.

The book, part of Johnson’s Adventures with Little Chef Debbie series, introduces children to the power of neighborhoods and food access, sparking conversations about health, empathy, and equity.

Special Community Announcement

In addition to celebrating the book release, Johnson will unveil the first initiative of her new nonprofit: a Thanksgiving partnership with local organizations to provide food for food insecure residents in White Plains. This program comes at a critical time, as recent cuts to SNAP-Ed benefits have increased the number of families struggling to afford healthy meals.

“This book is about building stronger, healthier neighborhoods, and what better way to live that message than by making sure every family has food on the table this Thanksgiving,” Johnson said. “With rising food insecurity, especially after reductions in SNAP-Ed support, we must come together as a community.”

  • Book reading and signing by Deborah Johnson
  • Guest speakers: Dr. Roger Ball, LMSW, Dr. Kimberly Joyce-Bernard, other food access advocates
